Temi is an international student from Nigeria and chose Penn State because of how well known the University is nationally. She originally wanted to pursue computer science and was drawn to Penn State Harrisburg because of the size and programs. She then decided she wanted to pursue business and was able to smoothly transition to the Business school.

Prior to Penn State Sales Club Temi was not attending many conferences, once she joined the club she said that she was a lot more comfortable in professional situations. She said these developed skills transferred to other non-sales related conferences. She says that, “she always tells people that even if you aren’t going to be in sales, a sales environment teaches you to be able to market and promote yourself in the professional world.”

After being in the club, Temi had gained so much experience from interviewing that she was used to getting into interviews and having a natural conversation. She said one thing she learned is that when you are going through sales it teaches you to listen and then respond based on what the interviewer has said. A lot of her communication skills greatly improved from the club, and those skills are applicable to her current career.

Temi had the opportunity to attend a lot of career fairs and competitions every semester exposing her official and unofficial conversations with a lot of recruiters. In her experience, the club was very helpful and career focused. It gave her many networking opportunities allowing her to sometimes interview on the spot.
